In our talks about Spring, the changes in our temperature and nature, we dicussed the new growth of plants/flowers going on around us. As we loooked at books/pictures of flowers I found this song by Dr. Jean, on the CD "Kiss Your Brain", that helps the children learns the parts of a flower through the growing cycle. We sang the song during music time during the week. As we did other acitivites with flowers, the children used the vobaulary, like stem, seed. and leaves. SOmething as simple as a song hleped to stimulate comversations and interest in what happens to the seed, how it travels, types of seeds, etc. A small group activity during the week was making a flower with all the parts and labels. We also had a planting center which included soil, planting tools, flowers, pots, and seeds.
